SupportAndGo vs Freshservice

Freshservice is Freshworks' IT service management product, and it is not the same thing as Freshdesk. If you are comparing it with us, the first question is whether your requesters work for you.

The first thing to settle is which product you are actually looking at. Freshservice is ITSM — internal IT, staff requests, asset and change management. Freshdesk is a customer support desk. Same company, different products, similar names, and a surprising number of shortlists contain the wrong one.

If you landed here comparing customer support tools, the page you want is SupportAndGo versus Freshdesk. If you are genuinely evaluating ITSM, read on — and the short version is that we are not an ITSM product and will not tell you otherwise.

Where Freshservice beats us

  • It is actually ITSM. Asset discovery, a service catalogue, change and release workflows, licence tracking. We have none of these.
  • Internal-requester model. Approvals, delegation and org-chart-aware routing assume the requester is an employee. That assumption is correct for IT and wrong for customer support, which is why each product is good at one of them.
  • Breadth of the suite. If you already run Freshworks products, staying inside one vendor has real operational value.

Where we are a better answer

  • Customers, not colleagues. Everything from triage to tone assumes the person writing does not work for you.
  • Per desk, not per agent. Nobody has to be locked out of the queue to control the bill.
  • Included AI. No per-resolution meter, so using it more does not cost more.
  • Australian owned, not merely Australian hosted.

The difference neither of us can change

Freshworks can put your data in an Australian region. What it cannot do is change whose law reaches the company holding it. The US CLOUD Act reaches providers under US jurisdiction regardless of where the data is stored — an Australian data centre operated by a US company is still reachable by a US order, and the order can carry a non-disclosure obligation, so you may not be told.

This is not a feature gap that a roadmap closes. It is a question of where the company is incorporated, and it is the one difference between us that cannot be matched without restructuring.

Under Australian Privacy Principle 8 the accountability stays with you: disclose personal information to an overseas recipient and you remain responsible for what they do with it. Using an Australian-owned processor removes the cross-border disclosure rather than managing it.

Common questions

What is the difference between Freshservice and Freshdesk?

They are different products from the same company. Freshservice is IT service management, aimed at internal IT teams handling requests from staff: service catalogues, change approvals, asset management. Freshdesk is a customer support desk. They are often confused because the branding is close. We compare against Freshdesk separately.

Is Freshworks an Australian company?

No. Freshworks Inc. is incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in San Mateo, California, with substantial operations in India. It can host data in an Australian region; the company remains subject to US jurisdiction, which is the distinction that matters under the CLOUD Act.

Should I choose Freshservice instead of SupportAndGo?

Yes, if your tickets come from your own staff and you need ITSM: asset discovery, change workflows, a service catalogue, software licence tracking. We do none of that. Choose us if your tickets come from customers.

Is the AI included or charged separately?

Freshworks has historically packaged its AI capability into higher tiers and add-ons, so the AI you see demonstrated is not always the AI on the plan you are quoted — worth confirming against a current quote rather than a comparison page, ours included. On our side, triage, deflection and reply drafting are part of the desk with no per-resolution charge.

Can I export everything if I leave?

Yes. Offboarding produces a complete archive of every collection in your workspace, messages included, and deletion is verifiable.
