Comparison
Zoho Desk is the value play inside a very large suite. If you already live in Zoho, that suite is a serious argument — and it is the argument to weigh, not the ticket features.
Zoho Desk is inexpensive, capable and tightly integrated with the rest of Zoho. If your business already runs on Zoho CRM and Books, adding Desk is the path of least resistance and it is a reasonable one.
If you do not already run on Zoho, then you are choosing a support desk on its merits, and the comparison narrows to two things: what the pricing model does as you grow, and where the company holding your customers' correspondence is incorporated.
Buying inside a suite is genuinely efficient — one vendor, one bill, one login, data already joined up. It is also the thing that makes leaving expensive later, and support data is unusually sticky: it is years of correspondence your team searches daily.
Worth asking before you commit: can you get all of it out? We publish a documented export that carries every collection including the message bodies, and we test that the archive actually contains what its manifest claims — because an export that reports success and ships an empty collection is the failure mode nobody discovers until they need it.
Zoho can put your data in an Australian region. What it cannot do is change whose law reaches the company holding it. The US CLOUD Act reaches providers under US jurisdiction regardless of where the data is stored — an Australian data centre operated by a US company is still reachable by a US order, and the order can carry a non-disclosure obligation, so you may not be told.
This is not a feature gap that a roadmap closes. It is a question of where the company is incorporated, and it is the one difference between us that cannot be matched without restructuring.
Under Australian Privacy Principle 8 the accountability stays with you: disclose personal information to an overseas recipient and you remain responsible for what they do with it. Using an Australian-owned processor removes the cross-border disclosure rather than managing it.
AI triage included rather than reserved for higher tiers. Incident correlation, so a spike of tickets and the error causing it are one story. Australian ownership rather than Australian hosting. And a deliberately small product that does support properly instead of a suite that does many things adequately — which is an advantage only if support is the thing you actually need solved.
At the entry tiers, yes, and its free plan is genuinely usable. The comparison changes with team size, because our price is per workspace and does not move when you add people. If cost at the very bottom end is the deciding factor, Zoho wins that one.
Zoho offers several regions including Australia. Zoho is an Indian-headquartered company with US operations; as with any overseas provider, the question for an Australian business under APP 8 is not only where the data sits but which jurisdictions can compel its production, and who remains accountable for the disclosure.
Yes. Offboarding produces a complete archive of every collection in your workspace, message bodies included, with a manifest and a checksum. We test that the archive carries what the manifest claims rather than trusting the manifest, because an incomplete export that reports success is not discovered until you need the missing part.
